Blueyonder Broadband Internet UK
Blueyonder Broadband and BT Openworld ADSL both offer high speed, 'always on' internet access (known as broadband). This is a quick guide to the differences between each one and on choosing a uk broadband isp.
Broadband UK internet access is dependent on where you live - for Blueyonder broadband internet, you need to live in an area which is covered by their cable service (Telewest) and for BT Openworld ADSL broadband internet, you need to live within a certain distance of an enabled telephone exchange.
So your first step should be to check which UK broadband internet service you can receive (if any!). For Blueyonder Broadband Internet, all you need to do is type in your postcode and you can instantly found out if you can get the service - it's as easy as that! To check if Blueyonder broadband internet access is available in your area click here. If you are lucky enough to discover that Blueyonder is available to you, simply fill in your contact details (without obligation) and they will be in touch to explain the options.

Why broadband? Well, the main advantages of broadband internet access are as follows: The high speed at which pages load (ideal for online gaming or downloading music, film trailers or free software). The always on access means you no longer need to worry about how much dialling up to the internet is costing you - use the internet whenever you like for a fixed monthly cost. This means you can use the internet to it's full advantage - check whats on at the cinema, the latest news, weather or just about anything else - in seconds. Use a web cam to chat with friends or family in the UK or abroad rather than using the phone, participate in online forums and discussions, or anything else which takes your fancy - without worrying about the cost of phone calls for connecting to the net. It also takes much less time to connect to the net as you don't need to dial your isp. The other main advantage is that your ordinary telephone line is still available while you are on the net - so no more missed calls!

BT Openworld ADSL Broadband UK
So what about ? This has exactly the same advantages as Blueyonder Broadband, but it works in a different way. Rather than using cable, ADSL uses your existing telephone line and splits the signal so that you can use the internet at the same time. BT Openworld offer adsl high speed connection uk internet access in most cities.
If you live in an area not covered by cable (use the post code checker above) or do not want to get cable installed, then provides a good alternative. BT Openworld have recently reduced their monthly charge for adsl broadband to £29.99, making it competitive with cable broadband.
I also found BT broadband to be a little slower than cable, but that does not necessarily mean that it is! - The connection depends on a number of factors, including the quality of your telephone line (for adsl), the time of day and the number of people using broadband online at the same time as you.
If you don't have availability for cable broadband in your area, BT Openworld adsl is still a good second choice (I found their customer service particularly helpful, which is more than you can say about NTL!) and once you have tried broadband internet access, you will NEVER want to go back to using a dial up modem isp service again!

UK Broadband is sadly not as cheap as it is for some of our European neighbours - in Sweden they pay £18 a month for a connection 50 times faster than a dial up modem and in Germany they pay £15 monthly for the equivalent of our BT Openworld ADSL or Blueyonder Broadband UK Service. However as one of the main complaints about the internet is that it is too damn slow, broadband internet access offers a big improvement in speed and as the monthly cost is fixed, it can even work out cheaper than dialing up. Give it a try and you won't look back!
