A colourful site, which is easy to use - mixed cases of wine are available from £49,99 with delivery included in the price. Majestic Wine Warehouses are the UK's biggest mixed case wine retailer with over 100 stores nationwide and an award-winning website. Majestic offers free UK delivery, which is carried out directly from local Majestic stores in Majestic vans by Majestic staff, all arranged at a time to suit the customer. All the in-store special offers are available online, plus there's a dedicated pre-mixed cases section (ideal for gifts) and customers can even order beer, water and soft drinks. Majestic only sells wine and spirits with a minimum purchase of 12 bottles, but you can mix any style or price. A very user friendly and well designed site, which makes it easy to purchase wine on the internet.

- Waitrose Wines Direct
Of all the supermarkets, Waitrose has by far the best selection of wines and now you can order them online even if you live nowhere near a Waitrose store. Select your own wines to make a case of 12 or simply buy one of the mixed cases, selected by their Masters of Wine. Waitrose guarantees the quality of their wines - if you are not completely satisfied they will replace your wine or refund your money. Our favourite wines include the gorgeous Rutherglen Estates Durif 2002; the silky smooth Ninth Island Pinot Noir from Tasmania and the fantastic Porcupine Ridge Syrah 2002 from Franschoek in South Africa. The site is quick and easy to use and our wine order arrived promptly. The Waitrose Wines department is now incorporated into the John Lewis site.
Best Feature: Best selection of all the supermarkets.
Worst Feature: You can no longer mix your own case.

From Richard Branson's Virgin empire - Virgin wines is an online wine merchant selling wines by the case. New customers get £20 off their first order and the virgin wine web site is easy to navigate and use. Good features include customer reviews of wines and a promise to refund your money if you don't like a wine! A casual and friendly approach to wine drinking and buying wine online means that the site is aimed at people who are not wine experts and the 'Wine Wizard' will suggest wines for you based on your preferences. You can also join the online wine club. The selection of wine you can buy online is huge - over 6000 wines are on offer.

An attractive and easy to use site offering a wide variety of high quality meat products. The founders, Richard Guy and Gilly Metherell, have been producing real meat from their own livestock since the 1970's. After getting married in 1985, they combined their ethical beliefs and their farming expertise by setting up The Real Meat Company. As well as various cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken - sausages, burgers and other ready prepared products are available.

- AG Millers
Specialists selling organic and free range meat, poultry, eggs, game
and delicatessen items. Their next day UK home delivery service is
only £5.95 or free delivery on orders over £75.00. (Order by 2 pm for
next day delivery). Try a free range Turkey, Goose or Guinea Fowl for
Christmas.
Also recommended are: Heal Farm, who offer a wide range of meat as well as desserts, cakes, chocolates, preserves and ready made meals and Graig Farm, who offer organic meat, fruit and vegetables, fish, bread and groceries; as well as Higher Hacknell whose Beef in particular, is excellent (try the rib-eye steaks).
Good quality Welsh Lamb and other meat is available to buy on-line at the friendly Edwards of Conwy Butchers, while Happy Meats provides quality lamb and Rare Breed Grass Fed Beef as well as sausages from their Gloucester Old Spot pigs.
If you are looking for (frozen) ready meals made from free range chicken or organic meats, try the range on offer at Swaddles Green Farm. They offer a good variety of tasty convenience meals made from all natural ingredients and ready to pop into the microwave or oven. Another place to buy good quality ready made meals is at Piper's Farm who have 4 different ready-cooked dishes to choose from as well as larger portions of 7 different ready-to-go casseroles. They also sell chicken stock and delicious Devon beef. More organic meat can be found at Jonathan Dimbleby and Paul Robinson's Bath Organic Farms - offering organic Beef, Lamb, Poultry, Pork and Sausages.
Also recommended for meat - Moorlands Farm Shop, particularly for their mutton - they also sell good quality goat meat. Laverstoke Park Farm Shop offer their award winning Hebridean lamb as well as some more unusual meats, including Wild Boar; Buffalo and Biltong made from Beef, Buffalo or Venison. Longhorn beef (the breed used on Heston Blumenthal's BBC 2 programme) is one of the meats sold at Meridian Meats, along with Longhorn Beef and Colmans mustard sausages and Longhorn Beef, Thyme and wholegrain mustard sausages - both winners of Gold Awards in the 2006 Great Taste Awards.
If you want to eat some of the best chicken you have ever tasted; then try Label Anglais Free Range Poultry. Chef Gordon Ramsay was a recent visitor to their farm. Having started to use Label Anglais chicken in his London restaurants, Gordon was interested in seeing how Label Anglais poultry was raised.
He was so impressed that he featured Label Anglais in his regular Saturday Times Magazine feature.
- The Fish Society
A huge selection of fish (frozen to ensure freshness) is available at this appealing site. This is good quality fish (recommended by BBC Good Food magazine and Good Housekeeping magazine) - so if you are a seafood fan then fill up your freezer!

Which? Webtrader approved, and have been trading on the net for nearly three years, selling fresh Fish, Lobsters and other seafood direct from Cornish boats to the consumers door by overnight delivery. The internet gives consumers the ability to buy their fish direct from the source, giving them the best quality product at reasonable prices.

- Brown and Forrest Smoked Food
A good selection of smoked food, made in small batches at this Somerset smokery. We visited the premises last summer and were very impressed with the quality of the food in the on site restaurant. So if you are in the area, pop in for lunch - if they are not too busy they will show you how the food is smoked. They offer their products over the internet too with efficient and prompt delivery. The selection on offer includes their speciality, smoked eels - but if these are not to your taste there is also a variety of smoked salmon and trout products. The selection of smoked meats includes venison, duck, chicken, pork, bacon, ostrich and lamb.
Best Feature: Great food, attractive web site.
Worst Feature: A few more pictures of the food would be nice, prices have increased recently.

If you are looking for an online supplier of liqueurs then try the Drink Shop - they are stockists of everything from Limoncello to Amaretto and Amarula, as well as a range of spirits, beers, cider, wines and champagnes.
- Clearwater Hampers - Food and Wine Gift Hampers
Offers a good selection of high quality food hampers which would make ideal gifts for gourmets! How about a celebration hamper for breakfast in bed on the special day? Or the luxury of smoked salmon and champagne? Other options include hampers for Christmas and Easter, as well as food hampers filled with chocolates, port and stilton hampers, and wine hampers. If you live in Australia, New Zealand or Canada, you can even send a food hamper gift to a friend or relative in the UK filled with produce from your country. Also recommended are: Esperya (Gorgeous Italian Food direct from Italy); Olives et al (the best Olives we have ever tasted, as well as various snacks and delicious nuts in honey); Limoncello (a Cambridge based deli who deliver throughout the UK); Valvona & Crolla (an excellent Edinburgh based deli who also deliver nationwide) and Gourmet World, who have some delicious cakes and nougat, as well as olives, pasta sauces and other food items.
Another good online deli is Provender Delicatessen which specialises in fine food and drink from the English West Country - everything from farmhouse cheese to cider brandy, dry cured bacon and hams to smoked eels. Finally, for fantastic garlic and garlic products the Really Garlicky Company (featured on Rick Stein's Food Heroes) is highly recommended - try their recipe for Really Garlicky Chicken.
We also love Seasoned Pioneers who sell a vast range of herbs, spices and seasonings in resealable funky foil pouches. Their aim is to "Help Adventurous Souls Achieve Culinary Inspiration" with over one hundred exotic spices, herbs, peppercorns, chillies, and other specialist ingredients, including many organic lines. Try the fragrant Moroccan spice blend Ras-el-Hanout - add it to Couscous or sprinkle a little bit into mashed sweet potatoes.
Wineracks If you need somwhere to store your wine purchase, Cotswold Furniture do an attractive wood and steel expandable winerack which will hold from 15 to 90 bottles of wine. Simply extend the storage as you build your wine collection. A good budget solution to your wine storage is the VacuVin Wine Rack.
